We are a small family Architects Practice (father and daughter) providing architectural services throughout the Selby, Leeds and York areas.

Our aspiration is to be among the best architects for designing house extensions in the area.

The majority of our work is house extensions for growing families. We specialise in creating unimagined, dramatic changes in layout and design of existing family homes.

In some cases we have revisited our designs many years later to remodel the house as our clients become grand parents. This demonstrates a certain loyalty and confidence in our abilities.

Consent for ‘granny annexes’ or work at home offices is also an expanding part of our business.

Our Clients

Some clients know exactly what they want right down to the door handles. For such clients it will be our experience and understanding of the planning system which becomes most important.

Many clients can be quite specific about what they want. Indeed a written list of desirable rooms and an idea of lifestyle is often sufficient for us to commence designing. This is where our fixed fee terms provides the most value. We will produce as many ideas as necessary to help evolve a suitable design.

The Partnership

The combination of a traditional architect working with a young designer with contemporary ideas is a formulae which many clients believe gives us a unique appeal.

Chris is an architect with over 40 years experience in the industry. He advises on the best tactics to achieve consents for house extensions as well as designing new buildings and conversions. He has also acquired a substantial knowledge of construction methods and techniques. This allows us to produce practical, buildable projects.

Sarah is an architectural technologist and has run the business side of the practice since 2013. She is a prolific designer and oversees most of our house extension projects. At home she is managing the construction of her own two storey extension which places her in a unique position to understand clients needs. Where possible her proposals will consider minimising the disruption during construction.

The Competition

Most architects practices are not interested in the smaller projects and can be quite expensive.

Our competition consists of single architects, plan drawing services and architectural draftsmen who offer a drawing services for house extensions. Often they have limited knowledge of the planning application process. This can easily result in expensive applications for ‘grand designs’ which were always doomed to fail.

Chris’s knowledge and experience of the increasingly complicated planning system and building regulations process allows us to navigate the regulatory system in the way most likely to achieve best results.
