Finn and Finn Architect undertake many residential Architect and residential Architectural projects every year and pride themselves on having a constructive working relationship with York City Council planning officers.

We offer a personalised Architectural service to Huntington and indeed all York residents tailoring our services to the requirements of each individual client. We will offer a fixed fee with no VAT applicable to provide the necessary designs and drawings to make a householder planning application on your behalf. We will modify and revise the design as many times as necessary to ensure you end up with the design you want at the fee we quote.

Our Building Regulations Drawing service provides enough information for any competent builder to provide an accurate price for the work and to go on and build the project. Fixed Fees for this service will depend on the size of the projects and will have no VAT applicable.

Interesting Facts about Huntington

Huntington, a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, located just north of York:

1. Origins and Parish Church:
   • Huntington has a rich history dating back to at least 1086.
   • The parish church, All Saints, has stood since medieval times.
   • The village was historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire until 1974 when it became part of Ryedale district. Since 1996, it has been part of the City of York unitary authority¹.
2. Unique Geography:
   • Huntington is divided by the River Foss, with the main settlement and church on one side and West Huntington on the other.
   • During the Middle Ages, the eastern part of Huntington was part of the Forest of Galtres, a royal hunting forest.
   • The Act of Dis-Afforestation in 1629 ended this forest status¹.
3. Growth and Development:
   • Huntington remained small until the late 19th century.
   • Expansion began around 1870–1880 with nearby New Earswick and Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Strensall.
   • Post-war housing developments contributed to its suburban character.
   • The village’s old core, including All Saints’ Church and West Huntington Hall, is a designated conservation area¹.
4. Architectural Gems:
   • Notable buildings include:
     • All Saints’ Church: A historic parish church with a 15th-century chancel and a repositioned 12th-century doorway.
     • West Huntington Hall: Originally dating to 1629, it was substantially rebuilt around 1800.
     • Manor Farm Tithe Barn, Memorial Hall, and the former Board School also contribute to Huntington’s architectural heritage².
